The Creation of Black Friday

Published by uptowngirl_83 at 11:22 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Just this past Friday I ventured into what I though would be a fun and yet exciting experience of shopping on “Black Friday”. To say the least; I surely had no clue of what I got myself into. Arriving at Walmart at 3am I was about the 75Th person there. My husband standing in line for a laptop and me in the toy Ilse. “This isn’t as bad as they say” I was thinking to myself. All the toys where out in the middle of the Ilse so i went by to get a couple of things i was looking for. I go to pick up  the cabbage patch kid my daughter had been eyeing when suddenly i was reprimanded by a walmart clerk advising me i could not touch until 5am. Hmm oookk. By this time i noticed more anxious shoppers where starting to file in. Buggies going everywhere. People on cell phone like they are on walkie talkies. “What section are you in? OK well I’m over here by this and when u get that run over here and grab as many as possible!”? O lord i thought maybe i need to map out something of my own. Mean while my husband is still trying to keep a spot for the laptop. Growing angry really quick. By the time 4:25 am came you could even move a buggy 2 ft, in front of you before you where smashing someones heels. ” Sorry, excuse me, is all you could manage to say”. By this time the only thing i could think about is how i felt like a starving lion trying to fight for a little piece of meat to survive. Every year it seems someone dies or gets hurt from the mad rush on this Black Friday. and now i understand why. This is a completely preventable situation. Anyone with any logic would no you cant cram 200-500 people in a store and not allow anyone to touch anything until u say go and then watch the fight there way tooth and nail for one item. It is sickening. And is one TV or baby doll really SO important that we have to fight like scavengers just to get it? I ended up getting everything i went in the store for but never again will I just have to have something soo bad that i subject myself to getting trampled for a materialistic item.

You are soo true, last year I went to meijer got there before 5am and seriously almost everything on the ’sale’ was gone, and the store was soo crowded. This year I didn’t even bother, I slept in and around 10am decided to go to kohls, figured the mad dash should be over there was nothing particular I wanted, just wanted to get some work boots on sale. Get there with an hour left in sale, saw what I wanted, was great price. But the line, was litterally all the way around the store, you walk in, and there is the end of the line. So I was not going to stand in line for 2 hours when sale ended in 1. I ended up leaving with nothing, and went home and shopped online. Got exact same things I wanted, same price and free shipping. Amazing.
